A sling is like a pair of jeans- one sling does not suit all! If you are unsure which baby carrier would work best for you, we will work with you to choose the most appropriate carrier for your needs for you to hire. This can be done at a one-to-one consultation with our fully qualified Baby-Carrying Consultant (either online or in person) or at one of the Sling Library sessions. If there are a group of you wanting to find out about carrying your baby or child it's also possible to book a group workshop. Please get in touch with us so that we meet your needs as best as possible.
As of the end of August 2018, we now work from the Big Red Bus Club. Inside the room, you will be greeted by one of our team of volunteers who will ask you to sign in and ask what your needs are. We have the different types of sling set out on the rug and across the shelves. There are seats set up around the room where you can sit and feed your child. There are a variety of cakes and drinks to buy onsite. Sarah S or L will then work with you as to which sling would be best for your needs. We can also offer support with slings that you have been given, to make them more comfortable or fit better. Where we are a not for profit business, we do ask for a donation of £5 for advice given with your own sling.
We will then ask you to chose a membership term (1 month, 3 months, 6 months or a year). There is then a returnable deposit of £35 and the hire of the sling (this can be found here). The hire lasts for two weeks and can be renewed for a further two weeks via either our email or our Facebook group. After this time, we need to see the sling to check it for our insurance. We can then hire the sling for a further month. If you are then interested in buying a particular carrier, we can help you to find the best deals via our links with different sling companies.
To hire anything from the sling library, you will need to be a member of South East London Slingers.
This includes two lots of 15 minute 1:1 support sessions with one of our qualified sling consultants.
This includes six lots of 15 minute 1:1 support sessions with one of our qualified sling consultants.

With this membership, £2 of all hire fees are waived. This also includes twenty-four 15 minute 1:1 sessions as your baby grows and 10% off all workshops and out of hours support.
Each hire must be combined with a £35 refundable deposit. Each hire is valid for two weeks unless agreed otherwise with the sling library.
All of our slings are £5 for a two week hire.
With some of our carriers, they require separate parts to fit your child perfectly. Due to them being separate from the sling (i.e. easy to lose!), we charge a refundable amount until they are brought back at the end of the hire.
If you have a sling that is uncomfortable or you are looking for just some advice without looking to hire a particular sling, we ask for a donation towards our running costs and the upkeep of our slings.
